Heidi Dineen

National President 2007-2008

 

On Saturday, August 11, 2007, Heidi Dineen was elected National President of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary at their 61st National Convention held in Greensboro, NC.

 Heidi has become the third woman from Massachusetts to serve in this position.  It has been 46 years since Massachusetts has seen a National President.

 AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary is comprised of mothers, wives, widows, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, step daughters and granddaughters of American Veterans. AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary is a subordinate of AMVETS. The Auxiliary assists Veterans and their communities. The Auxiliary is committed to working for the good of our country and the needs of its citizens. For this reason, Heidi has chosen “Service above Self: Make a Difference!” as her theme this year.

 Heidi is a life member of Auxiliary # 1977 Stoughton, MA.  She has held many offices on the Local, District and Department levels, serving as Massachusetts State President in 1999-2000.  In 2000, Heidi was elected to the AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary’s National Executive Board as National Sgt-at-Arms.  She held this position for two years.  She then went on to hold the offices of Scholarship Officer, Third Vice President, Second Vice President and First Vice President.

 Heidi was born into an AMVET family.  Her parents have been members for 38 years.  Her dad, Joe, is a Past State Commander and her mom, Linda, is a Past State President.  Her daughter Ashley was also elected National Junior AMVET President in Greensboro.

Heidi is a graduate of Dedham High School.  She earned a B.S. in Education from Bridgewater State College, with a double major in elementary and special education.  In 1999, she earned a Masters in Education from Framingham State College and in 2003; Heidi obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership.

 Heidi was a Special Education Teacher and an Elementary Teacher for the Dedham Public Schools for 11 years prior to becoming Principal of the Curran Early Childhood Education Center.  The Curran Center houses preschool and kindergarten classes as well as a Child Care Center.

 Heidi has also been active in her community.  She has served as Secretary and Vice President for the Dedham Boys and Girls Club.  Heidi is also a Town Meeting member.

 Heidi resides in Dedham, MA with her daughter Ashley.
